Temple Overview: The Vakula Matha Temple is situated on a scenic hillock in Peruru, about 10 km from Tirupati. After centuries in ruins, the temple was grandly restored and re-consecrated in 2022. It is dedicated to Vakula Devi, who, according to legend, arranged the marriage between Lord Venkateswara and Goddess Padmavathi. The temple is designed so that the deity faces the Tirumala hills, eternally watching over her son.
History & Legend: In the Dvapara Yuga, Yashoda was the foster mother of Lord Krishna but regretted not seeing his marriage. Krishna promised her that in the Kali Yuga, he would be born as Venkateswara and she would be born as Vakula Devi to witness his wedding. She played the pivotal role of the mediator in the divine union of the Lord and Padmavathi Devi. The temple's location is strategically chosen where she can always view the Seshachalam hills.

Sarva Darshan (Free): Walk-in entry. Since it is a newer temple, the wait time is usually minimal (15–20 minutes).
Special Darshan: Not currently required as the crowds are manageable, but TTD may introduce tokens during peak festival seasons.

Suprabhatam (05:30 AM): The morning awakening ritual.
Daily Archana: Performed throughout the day.
Abhishekam: Performed on specific days (usually Fridays).
How to Book: Most rituals are currently offline and can be coordinated at the temple office on the hillock.

Mothers' Day (May 10, 2026): Celebrated with special significance here to honor the "Mother of the Lord."
Temple Anniversary (Kalyanotsavam): Celebrated in June annually to mark the re-consecration.

Annaprasdham & Prasadham

Prasadham: Small packets of Pulihora and Laddu are available at the counter.
Dining: While there isn't a massive Annadhana hall like Tirumala yet, simple food distribution often happens on festival days.

Dress Code & Etiquette

Men: Dhoti or Kurta-Pyjama are preferred.
Women: Saree or Chudidar with Dupatta.
Etiquette: Photography is allowed on the hillock but strictly prohibited inside the sanctum sanctorum.

Location & Accessibility

Location: 10 km from Tirupati city center.
Transport: Reachable via Tirupati360 Cab. Public transport is less frequent here, so a private vehicle is highly recommended.
The Ascent: There is a well-paved road that goes directly to the top. Only a few steps (approx. 20–30) are required to reach the main temple area.

Tirupati 360 Insider Tips

The Mother's View: Walk to the northern side of the temple courtyard. On a clear day, you can see the Tirumala hills in the distance.
The "First Visit" Rule: Many local devotees now follow the sequence of Vakula Matha → Tiruchanoor → Tirumala. Following this order is said to grant "complete" family blessings.
Lighting: Visit around 5:30 PM. The temple is lit with golden lights, and the cool breeze on the hillock is incredibly refreshing.

Sri Agastheeswara Swamy Temple (Mukkoti): A very ancient Shiva temple just 3 km away.
Chandragiri Fort: 6 km away; a great historical stop to combine with this visit.
