Temple Overview: The Japali Anjaneya Swamy Temple is a profound spiritual retreat located deep within the dense forests of Tirumala. It is a "Swayambhu" (self-manifested) shrine where the idol of Lord Hanuman is carved directly into a massive rock. Known for its intense peace and high spiritual vibration, it is a must-visit for those seeking a meditative experience away from the main temple’s crowds.
History & Legend: The temple is named after Sage Jabali, who performed rigorous penance at this spot. Legend states that Lord Hanuman appeared to the sage here to bless him. It is also believed that Lord Rama, Sita, and Lakshmana visited this site during their Vanavasam (exile). The perennial water stream here, known as Japali Teertham, is said to have been created to quench the thirst of the divine trio.

Temple Timings(Daily)

Opening Time: 06:00 AM.
Closing Time: 05:00 PM.
Critical Note: Visitors must begin their return trek by 4:30 PM. The area is a high-density forest zone with frequent sightings of leopards and bears after dark.

Detailed Darshanam Types & Bookings

Sarva Darshan (Free): This is a walk-in shrine. No tickets, tokens, or online bookings exist.
Trek Requirement: To reach the temple, you must trek roughly 1 km (approx. 20–30 minutes) through a forest trail from the parking area.

Sevas & Rituals: Timings & How To Book

Abhishekam: Performed every Tuesday and Saturday morning.
Hanuman Chalisa: Chanted collectively by priests and devotees multiple times a day.
How to Book: All rituals are walk-in. There are no paid "Arjitha Sevas" for the public; however, you can offer a small donation for the Archana.

Festivals & Important Days 2026

Sri Rama Navami: March 27, 2026. (The most vital day for this temple; Lord Rama's birth is celebrated with grand prayers to his greatest devotee, Hanuman).
Hanuman Jayanthi: May 11, 2026. (The biggest local festival; the forest trail becomes a sea of devotees).
Mukkoti Dwadashi: December 21, 2026. (A highly auspicious day to sprinkle the holy teertham water).

Annaprasdham & Prasadham

Prasadham: Small quantities of Pulihora or Vada are occasionally distributed.
Warning: Do not carry open food or plastic bags. The monkeys here are aggressive and will snatch items from your hands.

Dress Code & Etiquette

Dress Code: Standard Tirumala attire (Dhoti/Saree) is mandatory.
Etiquette: Silence is expected. It is a tradition to wash your hands and feet in the stream outside before entering the rock-cut sanctum.

Location & Accessibility

Location: 7 km from the main temple.
Transport: Reachable only via Tirupati360 Cab or private vehicle. TTD free buses stop at the main road, but the hike from there is too long.
Accessibility: Not suitable for the physically challenged or elderly with breathing/walking issues due to the forest trek and uneven steps.
